Hello, friend! My name is Michele (Chele), welcome to my blog, Thistledown Domestic Creations. Thank you for visiting!
It has been a dream of mine for quite some time to start a blog so I’m so happy you are here! I hope to publish a new post to the blog each week if time allows. Just note that some projects that are more in depth may take a bit longer to post about, but I will do my best to post weekly. I promise!
I’m still a country girl at heart who currently lives in the suburbs, while forever dreaming about moving back to the country in the near future.
In 2017 my husband and I purchased almost 40 heavily wooded acres an hour north of us. Since purchasing this acreage, we have gotten it certified as a tree farm! Hopefully, it won’t be long until we build our dream farmhouse out there!
One of my favorite things is bargain hunting in thrift shops and antique markets while searching for pieces to redo for my home. I also adore and collect anything that has to do with birch trees and nature.
All those details!
I have 2 daughters of my own and a lovely bonus daughter! My two are grown now and are out in the world making their mark! My bonus daughter is now halfway through college and is doing very well! I couldn’t be more proud of these three amazing young women that I have the honor of calling my daughters! God has truly blessed me!
My two dogs, Festus and Dale and my cat, Ruby are very precious to me. All 3 were rescues and have totally made me a happier person. They keep me entertained with their antics and are always ready to “help” me with my projects!
In March 2017, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Thankfully, it was found very early. I had 15 radiation treatment after a lumpectomy so I am considered cancer free now! There will be posts about my journey with breast cancer. It is my mission to help others cope with their diagnosis and treatment.
I am most happy and fulfilled when I am working on something. It doesn’t matter what it is as long as I am creating! One of my most favorite things is redoing old furniture with chalk paint and decoupage to give the piece new life. This always puts a smile on my face! I love working in my yard and tackling large home improvement projects (when the budget allows).
My mind is always coming up with new things to do. I believe my husband thinks I can’t sit still for more than 5 minutes (hahaha)!
My heart is full when I am busy doing what I love and I’m very lucky because he understands and just rolls with it! Thanks, Mr. Man!
Luckily, I am only about 2 hours from the Atlantic Ocean. That said, I decided several years ago that when the feeling hits me that I need my toes in the sand, I head down for a day of “me” time.
Nothing resets my soul more than walking along the beach collecting sea glass and shells. Plus there is an added bonus of LOTS of great bargain shopping! 😉
I hope you will join me for an inspiring and fun journey while I share with you what makes me happy! There will be lots of easy to do crafts of all kinds, many home and garden projects, plus simple and delicious recipes that include gluten-free and organic options. My oldest daughter, Elecia will be along for the fun on a lot of the food posts! Believe me, you will be glad she is as she is an amazing creator of delicious and easy recipes.
I’ll also share tips with you about completing home improvement projects while sticking to a budget. There will be many terrific projects featuring, chalk paint, decoupage and other household DIY projects and ideas. I’m looking forward to doing some in-depth home improvement projects that I can share with you as well.
There will be lots of lighthearted stories that will make you smile that I am excited to share with you. I welcome your comments and I can’t wait to get to know you! Let’s create something fabulous together!
I genuinely hope that Thistledown Domestic Creations will be a place you will enjoy visiting and that you will come back often.
